A Thought to Begin
Faith is not just something we talk about. It is something we live by.
“The just shall live by faith.” — Hebrews 10:38
Just like we breathe air without thinking, the believer is called to live by faith daily.
Without it, the Christian walk cannot function.
What Is Faith and Trust?
Faith is more than belief—it is confidence in who God is.
Faith is being empowered by the reality that God is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving, and all-good.
Trust is the response to that faith:
A firm belief in God’s reliability, truth, ability, and strength.
Faith says:
“God is who He says He is.”
Trust says:
“I will live like that is true.”
Why Faith Matters
“Without faith it is impossible to please Him…” — Hebrews 11:6
Faith is not optional—it is essential.
It is how we:
Approach God
Walk with God
Please God
Faith is the foundation of a victorious life.
What Does Real Faith Look Like?
When we look at Scripture, we see that faith is not passive.
Abel gave a better sacrifice
Enoch walked with God
Abraham obeyed without knowing the outcome
Moses chose suffering over temporary pleasure
Faith moves.
Faith acts.
Faith obeys—even without full clarity.
A Deeper Look at Faith
Hebrews 11 shows us something powerful:
Some people:
Saw miracles
Received promises
Others:
Faced suffering
Endured hardship
Never saw the promise in their lifetime
Yet all were commended for faith.
Faith is not proven only when things work out—it is revealed when things don’t.
The Faith That Receives vs The Faith That Gives
There are two dimensions of faith:
The Faith That Receives
Believes God for blessings
Trusts God for provision
Looks for answers and outcomes
The Faith That Gives
Surrenders fully to God
Pursues righteousness
Puts Jesus at the center
Lives for eternity, not comfort
The highest level of faith is not what you get from God—it is what you give to Him.
How Do We Live This Kind of Faith?
Scripture gives us the answer:
“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…” — Hebrews 12:2
You are not running this race alone.
You are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses
You have examples of faith before you
You have Jesus who finished the race
Faith is sustained by where you fix your eyes.
If your focus is:
On problems → faith weakens
On yourself → faith wavers
On Jesus → faith grows
The Foundation of a Victorious Walk
“This is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” — 1 John 5:4
Victory is not based on:
Circumstances
Feelings
Outcomes
Victory is based on faith.
When your life is built on the reality of who God is,your walk becomes unshakable.
Now What?
What does my faith actually look like in my daily life?
Do I truly trust God, or do I rely on my own understanding?
What situation is God asking me to trust Him with right now?
Am I living by faith—or only acting when I feel in control?
What is one area where I need to fully surrender to God?
How can I intentionally keep my eyes on Jesus this week?
Final Reflection
Faith is not proven in comfort. It is revealed in uncertainty.
It is:
Trusting without seeing
Obeying without knowing
Continuing without understanding
Closing Thought
Faith is not just believing God can—it is living like He will.
Prayer
Father, strengthen my faith to live for You.Teach me to trust You beyond what I understand.Help me to fix my eyes on Jesus, and to walk in a faith that fully surrenders to You.Amen.
